ABOUT PEACOCK FLOWER FARM

Photo of Lucy RansdellWelcome! Peacock Flower Farm is my passion project. I'm Lucy Ransdell, an artist, animal lover, and staunch Texan transplant in Indiana. For many years, I served as a professional pet sitter and caregiver (and veterinary technician for over a decade). I started my farm in 2019 with an inherited shovel, elbow grease, and the dream of providing small doses of ephemeral beauty. We're located on land with a long family history - my husband, his parents, and grandparents were all born and raised in Bloomington and owned this land, a forested hideaway west of town with just enough open, sunny fields to grow.

As a student of nature, I choose to share my love of flowers by growing them with care for the land and environment. I love to learn the history and unique properties of each plant, and aim to share the knowledge I've gained and appreciation for their role in our ecosystem. Growing in tune with the seasons and taking care of the birds, bees, soil, and native creatures that also call this place home is important to me. Learning how to do so is a constant endeavor, and I invite you to join me on the journey.

The farm will offer fresh, seasonal flower bouquets, Bloom Bars for special events, and more along the way. I eventually plan to open the farm for photo sessions with the flowers and the forest, create balms and salves with the healing plants I grow, and even create art from the fruits of the farm whenever I can. I'm an ADHD girl: my visions are many, my style is unconventional, and the yields of my work are often a surprise even to me - I hope you'll follow along and become part of the story!
